What to Wear for Your Maternity Session (Without the Stress)
We talk through your vision during your consultation—soft and dreamy, bold and editorial, somewhere in between. But I know that conversation can feel like a lot to remember once you're home, staring at your closet. So think of this as your cheat sheet. Start with how you want to feel. Before you pull anything out of your closet, ask yourself:
How do I want to feel in these photos? Powerful? Soft? Ethereal? Like the leading lady of your own life? Let that answer guide everything.
If you're bringing your own wardrobe, here's what photographs beautifully: Fabrics with movement (silks, chiffons, flowy pieces), Textures (lace, knits, beading), Solid colors over busy patterns. Things that make you feel like the best version of yourself.
What to avoid: Tiny prints that get lost in photos. Logos or words across your belly. Anything uncomfortable (if you're adjusting it all session, it'll show). Colors that glow
Earthy tones. Dusty blues. Soft pinks. Rich jewel tones. Neutrals. We'll talk through what works with your skin tone, your location, and the vibe you're going for.
Building my gown collection. I'm currently growing a collection of designer gowns for my mamas to borrow—think beads, jewels, silks, all of it. If you have a gown you'd love to wear and donate afterward, let's talk. I offer a framed print in return, and you'll help future mamas feel just as gorgeous as you do.
For partners and kids if they're joining. Keep it polished. Coordinate, don't match. Think slacks, khakis, button-downs, blouses—elevated but comfortable. Darker colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on faces. I'm happy to help with this too—just ask. We'll make sure everyone looks like they belong together.
Still unsure? That's what I'm here for. Send me photos of what you're considering. Ask me questions. Try things on and text me. I've talked more mamas off the ledge than I can count. You've got this. And I've got you.
